Cast based headcount needed

The people who were backward in socially and educationally must joint together for maintaining social equality. A caste-based headcount in the next round of national census to determine the relative strengths of different castes. The Ezhavas constituted 29 per cent of the population. The Nairs and the Christians, who were far fewer than the Ezhavas, grabbed a much higher share of government jobs and educational opportunities.

Adv.C.K.Vidyasagar's group resigning

The district office-bearers and executive committee members of the Sree Narayana Dharma Vedi led by Adv.C.K. Vidyasagar faction have tendered their resignation to the State committee of the Sree Narayana Dharma Vedi expressing discontent at the inner feud between top-level leaders.

Adv.P.M. Ramesh Babu, former joint convener of the Sree Narayana Dharma Vedi, who announced the decision at a press conference on 18.6.2009, said the resigned leaders would cooperate with the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP) following a mutual understanding.

Adv Ramesh Babu said the activities of the Sree Narayana Dharma Vedi had been turning to be a failure under the mismanagement of the present chairman, Sri.Gokulam Gopalan, who deviated from the professed goals of the organisation. “The leadership was also a failure in effectively airing the views of the community about the women's reservation bill and the community-based reservation,” he said.

All the district committees of the Sree Narayana Dharma Vedi would follow their footstep by tendering resignation to the State committee expressing distrust over the “incredulous leadership.” “We are also dissatisfied by the way the State leadership of the Sree Narayana Dharma Vedi treats experienced leaders like Adv.C.K. Vidyasagar,.

The resigned district leaders –Sri Kappiyedath Chandran (District President), Sri.P. Lohithakshan (District Secretary), Adv.Mukundan Panakkal(Vice-President), Sri.Nadukkandi Sahadevan (Vice-President), Sri.U.K. Praseed Kumar(Vice-President), Sri.Chathukutty(Vice-President), Sri.K. Purushothaman (Joint Secretary), Sri.T.K. Surendran(Joint Secretary) and Sri.O. Kumaran (Joint Secretary)– were also present at the press conference.

Adv.C.K.Vidyasagar faction leaders tender resignation

The district office-bearers and executive committee members of the Sree Narayana Dharma Vedi led by Adv.C.K. Vidyasagar faction have tendered their resignation to the State committee of the Sree Narayana Dharma Vedi expressing discontent at the inner feud between top-level leaders.

The Sree narayana dharma vedi is splitting

The Sree narayana dharma vedi is splitting in to two separate groups in Kozhikode District. The groups can be named as Adv.Vidya sagar's group and Sri.Gokulam Gopalan's group. Both these groups are conducting their own meetings to improve their strength.

Adv.Vidya Sagar's group will meet on 18th June 2010 at Hotel Malabar Palace,Calicut and discuss their views and will plan their future programmes. Mr.Gokulam Gopalan's group will meet on 19th June 2010 at Jaya Auditorium,Calicut and discuss their views and will plan their future programmes.

Members from many parties, led by Rashtriya Janata Dal and Samajwadi Party, have forwarded their demand for including caste count in 2011 census.
The opposition members continued to create a ruckus in parliament over their demand for a caste-based census, Law Minister Veerappa Moily too came out in support of such a measure.
